“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
Through a partnership with the Community Kitchen, forged by Jim and Blanquita Trimble, a weekly church service is held at the facility every Sunday at 10:45 a.m. Each week, Pastor Jim leads a time of teaching, while his wife Blanquita uses her vocal talents to lead participants in praise and worship.
The Trimbles feel called to share the gospel of grace with those who do not feel at ease in a traditional church setting. As most of the attendees are also patrons of the Community Kitchen, the building provides a comfortable environment to learn about Jesus. After each service, attendees share a meal together.
“Through the church service we are able to give weekly pastoral care to the people in an environment that is welcoming for all individuals,” Pastor Jim says. “So they not only get physical food, but spiritual food, as well.”
Feeding hungry people is only one part of bringing lasting change to the lives of those who enter the Community Kitchen’s building. The Sunday services bring renewal to believers and hope to those who still seek Jesus’ comfort and peace.
